Cuba revisité avec/with Coco y Rico (Colette et Réjean)

8 - 30 février/ february 2015. De la Marinera de Varadero jusqu'à Piñar del Rio en passant par Viñales, Playa Jutia, Bahia Honda, Las Terrazas et finir à La Habana. Lots of fun!

Changements depuis 2010? Un peu plus d'autos sur les routes, specialement près des grandes villes. A few more cars in and around the cities . A bit more expensive. El Che followed us everywhere...

La Habana 2010

2010

Été 2010. 23 days, 2800+ km, up and down the green lizzard.
surprisingly (to us) very green all across.
even amongst the cacti past Guantanamo on the way to Baracoa.
7 days seeking shade, cold drinks and music in Havana.
very safe anywhere, anytime. great sights. same anywhere else.
hotel nacional the place to stay ; grand room with a grand view of sea, gardens and ongoing fiesta on the malecon. But have felt softer bed springs ; bought 2'' foamies and travelled with them.
rented a tiny huynday (sp?). very very few cars on the road outside havana. big 6-often-unmarked-lanes autopista up to the centre of the lizzard, then 2 lanes and even less trafffic. mostly horse pulled carts and bicycles slowing down a few trucks, buses and tourist cars. but everyone knew his/her place on the road.
i much enjoyed driving there, especially in the middle of the day with aire acondicionado ! did a mix of hotels, casas particulares and beach resorts. Highlights: la Havana, country roads, crossing little towns, mountain roads (cienfuegos and before Baracoa), the beaches, the cayos, watching cubans, talking with them, their music everywhere, the so many different skies, swimming under tropical downpours, the birds, the so elegant horsemen, the horse carriages, the cerveza , the rum and the cigars.
